Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine
Dr. Lopez has had extensive training to meet the needs of his patients. Dr Lopez completed his undergraduate degree in the major of biology at Cornell University. He then went on to graduate from the New Jersey Medical School with his degree in Medicine. Also during that time, Dr. Lopez performed basic science research at the prestigious Whitehead Institute, an affiliate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Dr. Lopez attained his Orthopaedic Surgery Certificate from Seton Hall University where he served as Chief Resident at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey. He assisted with team doctor coverage for several Seton Hall University athletic teams, and local area high school football. Dr. Lopez had additional pediatric orthopaedic training at the famous Dupont Children’s Hospital in Delaware. For further subspecialty training, Dr. Lopez completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Institute of Bone and Joint Disorders in Phoenix, Arizona. There, he gained additional experience in sports medicine, arthroscopic surgery, joint replacement and NFL injury exams.
Through the years, Dr. Lopez has contributed to the field of orthopaedics and medicine as a whole. Dr. Lopez was a contributing author to the book Field Guide to Fracture Management. He also has been co-author on other original scientific articles.
He specializes in minimally invasive sports medicine and joint replacement. Dr. Lopez performs a variety of complex procedures in the upper and lower extremities including rotator cuff surgery, knee ligament surgery, and the direct anterior total hip replacement.
Dr. Lopez is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery At the Seton Hall Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine.
